The DELTA software is an
IDL-based model evaluation software developed
in the framework of the FAIRMODE procedure
for benchmarking of Air Quality Directive
(AQD) modelling applications. Based on paired
modelled and monitored data, it offers rapid
diagnostic of model performance in terms of
various statistical indicators (including the
ones required by the AQD) and diagrams. Some
of the statistical indicators are evaluated
against bound values (performance criteria and
goals). DELTA offers analysis of the data in
two different modes:
-
Exploration mode,
where the user can select various time intervals,
parameters (meteorological or pollutants),
stations, etc.
-
Benchmarking mode,
where most of the options are pre-selected
according to the AQD requirements for a
given pollutant (e.g. 1 year, daily mean
values). In this mode performance reports
in standardized format are automatically
produced providing an overview of the selected
statistical indicators and the relative
performance criteria and goals.
The DELTA tool is distributed
with a Users’Guide
and with a demonstration dataset, created in
the POMI intercomparison
exercise
